The weave and stitching are tight, fine and straight. The intricate pastel floral pattern displays colors and shading that are nothing short of gorgeous. Includes the cushy, high quality 1/2-inch thick custom-cut pad seen in the photos. Purchased in 1998 at Pande Cameron, a high-end imported rug retailer in the Seattle-Bellevue area known for offering fine quality rugs from around the world. Price paid was close to $6,000.  This beautiful rug has been in a home occupied half time by two adults, and no pets. It lay in a sitting area where it received little use. No spots, damage or other wear issues of any kind. The variation in shading at the border is intentional, to give the rug a wonderful aged look. The rug's origin is China; pattern name Royal Versaille and the border color is navy blue. The floral pattern encompasses soft pastels of coral, turquoise, mauve, muted green, rose, sky blue, a grayed blue, raspberry, tan, golden brown, and taupe -- on a creamy colored background with navy border.
