Small white slightly fragrant flowers may emerge. Although considered a vine, Asian Jasmine does best when grown as groundcover. The plant is an excellent natural weed control as it forms a dense mat of attractive foliage that inhibits weed growth Its ability to form a dense mat suppresses weeds. This vine also does well in containers and is very attractive in hanging baskets. This plant has a moderate growth rate and does well in harsh urban environments. Can be trained to climb 8-10 feet, blooms best when climbing in a sunny or partially sunny location (smaller or non-existent blooms when prostrate and/or in less sun). Mature height 6" - 24", spacing: 4-8 in.   Q: How do you transplant Asian Jasmine?    A: Can dig up and transplant anytime of the year but best to do in early spring. Q: Can you plant Asian Jasmine now from 4 inch containers?    A: Yes, 4 inch containers and gallon containers can be planted year around if not a severe winter. 2-inch containers should be planted in the spring.  Q: How close should ground cover plants be planted to provide fairly rapid cover?    A: If using 4 inch pots, can be planted on 10 to 12 inch centers, if using smaller pots, close up the distance to 8 inch centers. Consideration should also be given to the individual plant characteristics; Asian Jasmine can be planted on 2 foot centers. CULTURE: Needs moist, well-drained, well-prepared soil for establishment. Once established, fairly drought tolerant. Cut down by mowing at highest setting in late winter – again in July if wanted. USES: Groundcover for large areas. PROBLEMS: Extreme winters can severely damage or kill this plant.
