Mary is a member of the Old Order Amish.The design of the Quilt is a Dahlia and the colors are blues, purples, greens, pink and burgundy on a white background. There is a blue border around the edge of the quilt. The background is white with blue border around the Dahlia pattern.The pieces of the quilt are sown together on a treadill sewing machine. No electricity is used to run the machine. The quit stitching is all done by hand, thousands of tiny handmade stitches make up this beautiful stitched design. Several Amish ladies get together around a quilt frame for a "working afternoon" to do the quilt stitching. Imagine the many, many hours it took to finish this beautiful work of art. The quilt stitching are usually done by many Amish women getting together for a "working afternoon". The size of the quilt is a large queen. It measures approximately 99 inches x 86 inches.
