Description
maureenfs Store Antique Art Deco Vantine's Iron Foo Dog Incense Burner I went to a weeknight farm auction in beautiful Somonauk Illinois, and came home with a van load of wonderful antiques and primitives. Check out my other auctions! This is an antique, Vantine's signed cast iron incense burner in the shape of a Chinese Foo Dog. Fresh from the era when everything Oriental was oh-so-kitch. I noticed in my photos that I do not have his head on straight (or I didn't have mine!). He actually looks a little bit to his left with no skewed gaps between his head and body - sorry about that. Vantine's Oriental Store was founded in 1869 in NYC by Ashley Abraham Vantine. It was a well known gift store and they imported items from Asia, and many of their incense burners came from France. He measures 5 1/4" tall is 3" wide and 4 1/2" deep. Excellent condition with his original gold coloring mostly intact. Signed on the bottom "Vantine's 1016." If you look on the underside of his head - the inside rim that goes on the body is missing a 1/4" section. This could be original (or intended) but I'm not sure, so I wanted to make you aware of it. You can't see it unless his head is off and upside-down! He has 3 holes - mouth and 2 ears, from which the incense smoke escapes. What a neat old fellow! Please ask if you have any questions, or feel free to inform me if you have any information about one of my listings. As with any of my items, if you ever need extra pictures, let me know, just make sure that you give me an email address to send them to. Pick up is welcome on all of my items. I’m happy to combine shipments for you. I have had some trouble with the Ebay shipping calculator giving people bombastic shipping rates (especially after purchase with the Ebay “Pay Now“ invoice on Parcel Post rates). I charge shipping cost, so if you think it’s too high, email me so that I can check it out, before you pay me. That being said, we pack very well, so that will add to the weight.I ship within one business day of receipt of your payment, or I will notify you otherwise. Also, with the exception of the most heavy items, I will always give both Priority Mail and Parcel Post as shipping options, with Priority being first for my lighter items. Be sure you check out both rates . Parcel Post is running 7-14 days (but sometimes up to 3 weeks) from my house to you, on average, depending on where you live. I will be happy to ship an item in a flat rate Priority mail box, if that is cheaper to you - as long as the item will fit well packed in the box - ask me before you bid if you think that’s the case for you.Shipping costs are available to mainland U.S. only. If outside, please ask me for shipping.Customer satisfaction is extremely important to me. If you receive an item and are not satisfied in any way, please contact me. .…and thanks so much for looking, I appreciate having you as a customer!
