If they were then price would be your only guideline. But there's a difference and it's a big difference that you should know before going any further. After this knowledge you'll be better able to make a valued decision on which source will bring you the most peace of mind in assuring you are successful in your installation of your heating and air conditioning system to obtain optimum comfort, longevity and maximum energy savings. Below are Facts about THEM and DESCO Energy Fact 1 - Most aren't even contractors of heating and air conditioning sellers and none are licensed heating and air conditioning distributors. Some would have you believe they're nationwide. In fact if you check you'll find those sellers who attempt to claim they're nationwide with no facts to support that claim are working out of their homes. Those sellers are by no means nothing more than home wide. But they stretch the truth we guess because the internet is nationwide and the trucks that do their shipping transport their boxes nationwide. Do a Google Earth search and check it out for yourself if you can even find their addresses. Fact 2 - They have no direct affiliation with the manufacturer of the products they're selling. DESCO Energy is the only online source that you can locate on Goodman's website. Fact 3 - They have no credible industry training. DESCO Energy's complete team of sales and design team and it's technical staff are all NATE Certified and have Goodman Factory training plus they are all field experienced at performing installations, service and support. Fact 4 - They can't offer the Factory Warranty or Factory Trained Technical support. DESCO Energy is the only online source that can give you Factory Technical and Factory Warranty support direct. Fact 5 - They don't stock anything. DESCO Energy is the only source that stocks and distributes over 5,000 HVAC products. The other sellers purchase from distributors just like DESCO Energy. Fact 6 - They have only been in business a few short years and most only on the internet. DESCO Energy has been in business for over 35 years in the heating and air conditioning business. We've provided literally tens of thousands of systems to do it yourselfers for over 35 years.  The only thing they have been pioneering is plagiarizing our ads. Fact 7 Not one of them is a Member of the Better Business Bureau. Those so called nationwide distributors have been kicked out of the BBB for failure to respond to customer complaints. DESCO Energy is the only legitimate seller of heating and air conditioning equipment that is a full fledged licensed distributor listed as an online and local member of the Better Business Bureau and listed on Dunn and Bradstreet. Plus we have an impeccable record of zero complaints ever filed against us by any homeowner or business in over 35 years through any source including the BBB or eBay. Absolutely positively no other source can make these claims or provide the same services as DESCO Energy. Okay now let's tell you about what we can do in factual terms: The complete following services and products we offer are exclusive solely to DESCO Energy and are not offered by any other online source. DESCO Energy provides an online sizing form to properly size the exact required heating and air conditioning system you require. The biggest problem in or industry today is oversizing of equipment which results in three major problems. The Single BIGGEST Problem in our industry Causes - Effects - Solutions 1. Oversizing costs you more initially for a larger than necessary system. Box Sellers and contractors love to oversize equipment because that simply means more profit for them. 2. Oversizing wastes energy. No matter what level of efficiency of equipment you purchase, you'll never achieve optimum energy savings when your system is oversized because the energy consumption is more than necessary. Like having a 500 horsepower engine in a car than only travels on standard roads, where will you ever use that horsepower? But you'll still waste a lot more energy with that engine in comparison to a properly sized engine. 3. Oversizing causes over 90% of warranty claims and severely shortens the life expectancy of the equipment. Take that same 500 horsepower engine and use it for short jaunts in city driving. The engine will suffer much more wear and tear than if the horsepower could be fully utilized on high speed riving at long distances. Purchasing an oversized system is the same as putting a 500 horsepower engine in your car. Yes, you can pass other cars faster than any other car on the road but how often do you need that excess horsepower? And you can get up to speed a lot faster but at what price? And once you're up to speed, then what? You still have that same gas guzzling engine to feed constantly. 4. Oversizing results in poor comfort. It isn't bad enough you've wasted money on buying a big engine in your car that's constantly eating gas but now you find the car doesn't keep you comfortable either because there's just too much extra weight you're lugging around. The car engine now has to work harder just to lug around that big engine all them time. You're heating and/or air conditioning system will overheat and/or overcool your house. It will never run long enough to get up to proper operating temperatures. And in cooling it will never run long enough to get the humidity out of the air. Plus those short running cycles put an excessive strain on all the parts while constantly causing unneeded expansion and contraction of all the materials. So if you think you're being safer and smarter by purchasing an oversized box, you did yourself more harm than any other decision you could have made about your new system. 5. This is the problem most contractors or installers never tell you about. This is the biggest problem oversizing creates. Let's say your new 500 horsepower engine car is 8 feet wide but it's only got 5 foot roads it can travel on? Something's not going to fit and there's a price to pay. When you oversize your heating and cooling system there's a minimum amount of air that has to be circulated. The larger the system the more air that needs to be circulated. Now if you have an existing duct system as most homeowners have when replacing an existing system, that duct system is designed for a certain amount of air flow. Trying to force more air through those same ducts is like trying to force your 8 foot wide car through 5 foot roads with concrete sides. The system suffers due to lack of sufficient air flow and guess what happens? On a heat pump or air conditioning system which require more air flow than heating, the indoor coil doesn't get enough air flow and this causes severe problems in the refrigeration system wrecking the compressor.  On the heating system it causes the heat exchanger to overheat and the equipment cycles off due to tripping on the emergency safety limit. This then leads to premature heat exchanger failure. And usually the homeowner has no clue why this has happened but they quickly point to the equipment and call it junk. For these reasons we have an online sizing form. And we don't put the sizing form there for looks or a nice feature to impress homeowners. The sizing form submittal is a requirement for all of our customers if they want technical and warranty support after the sale.  If you still don't believe the harmful effects of oversizing and how severe the problem is in our industry, just check the facts out at the Department of Energy's Website. They'll tell you the same facts and that it's an epidemic problem in the HVAC industry. If most contractors in our industry aren't paying attention to these considerations and the damaging effects oversizing causes, why do you think the Box Seller would concern themselves with sizing any system? And as you can quickly see purchasing the proper heating and/or cooling system is a lot more than just buying a Box like a major appliance. For Questions and Assistance Please Call DESCO Energy Toll Free 877-265-9764  8-5 Eastern time The Other Most Fatal and Common Problems in our Industry CAUSES - EFFECTS - SOLUTIONS Poor installations and duct design and sizing are the other problems in our industry that contribute to unnecessary warranty, comfort and energy consumption. Actually when we talk about duct design, we should state the lack of any duct design. When new homes are built the winning HVAC contractor got the job because they were the cheapest. In fact the prices today are so ridiculously low, it's understandable why so many go out of business and barely make enough money to survive. All homeowners think that HVAC contractors are extremely high priced and charge a lot of money for everything they do. Not when it comes to new construction they don't make money. In fact most are lucky if they break even and extremely lucky if they make 10% profit. So how do they make profit? By cutting corners. Those corners they cut affect the air distribution or duct system. Anywhere they can cut the size of the ducting or eliminate supply and return registers means a little more money they can put in their pockets. Home buyers are as much to blame for this as the builder and the contractor. After all when you bought your house, did you go around to see if the HVAC system was installed correctly? Would you know what to look for even if you were concerned? Instead the typical home buyer only looks at the name of the equipment and perhaps the efficiency rating. AS pointed out the magic in energy savings in in the equipment alone, it's in the complete system. One weak link such as leaky and/or improperly designed or installed duct system will negate any hopes of saving energy and can and does many times cause the equipment to fail prematurely and provide poor comfort. The other important issues involve how the equipment was installed and hooked up, the type of thermostat and how many systems should have been installed where one system can't possibly provide a proper comfort level due to the construction of the house. To help avoid these problems of proper equipment installation DESCO Energy provides a Warranty Validation Form. In this form there are sections for the homeowner to complete as well as the licensed professional installer. There are not check off items or  questions with simple answers. The questions require valid information about values and give required methods of properly installing the equipment. Every homeowner who has their installer follow and complete the Warranty Validation From is assured their system has been installed properly and will provide the maximum level of comfort, energy savings and longevity the equipment can give. Between our sizing form, the Warranty Validation Form and our technical and sales design team assistance, you are guaranteed a successful installation. All of these guidelines and requirements have been reviewed and approved by the very manufacturers we represent. They are an accumulation of over 35 years of expertise we have found to serve all of our customers well. And it's for these guidelines and requirements our customers have the lowest warranty claims in the entire HVAC industry. And it is the basis and the reason why we are then able to provide you with the highest level of technical and warranty support direct. We don't wait until you have problems to respond to them, we help you avoid any potential problems so they don't happen. Finally but not the least of which is the DUCT System, the most unforgotten and ignored part of every forced air system. Yet the duct system is as important as every other aspect of a successfully operating system. If the duct system is inadequate, poorly installed or designed, everything else will be for naught. DESCO Energy will evaluate any existing duct system for proper design and installation. We will also provide a complete pre-cut fiberglass duct system ( not referring to fiberglass flex duct which should only be used at a minimum) that is the most energy efficient. Typical sheet metal duct systems waste on average 25 cents of energy dollar by leakage alone. Fiberglass duct systems are less expensive, much easier to install and have the lowest rate of leakage possible. We will also provide a free design of the duct system upon the purchase of equipment such as a furnace and/or air conditioning or heat pump system.  If you're building a new house, a complete remodel or a total replacement, we can provide the entire system A-Z for every component you will require. So if you're presently experiencing comfort problems in your house, those problems won't go away by only replacing the equipment. So when you need warranty and technical support who will you call when they can't help you? The Factory? Your service technician who will cost you a fortune. And who will your installer call when he gets in a jamb? Our customers know they and their installers have the best technical support possible.  Check our feedback and see for yourself. Our customers praise our design and service expertise. While the rest sell Boxes, we provide a total comfort system that will provide you many years of optimum performance and energy savings. What's more important to you? What can we do for you? See information below and our other ads in our stores section here on eBay.       Time Well Spent Before making any decisions or do any further research for your HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) system, please read the following page and introduction so you can better understand our industry, warranties, technical support and the difference in sellers.  Unlike other products you may have purchased, the methods and practices of the heating and air conditioning industry are very different. Knowing those differences will help you to make better and more informed decisions.      Isn't every seller of HVAC equipment a distributor and factory trained? If they are advertising the products they have to be affiliated with the manufacturer, don't they? Surprisingly the overwhelming majority of HVAC sellers on the internet have no affiliation with any of the manufacturers' products they advertise. Any manufacturer providing a product certainly knows who is selling their products online, right?  If the manufacturer doesn't approve of the sale of their products or if the seller isn't qualified or affiliated somehow with the manufacturer they would not let them sell their products, right? Unfortunately those assumptions can and have caused a lot of unsuspecting homeowners problems after they have made their purchases.  A manufacturer can't stop anybody from selling their products whether it is online or elsewhere. It's simply against our fair trade laws. Most times these sellers will make their purchases from other distributors or dealers similar to DESCO Energy or from friends in the industry and then sell them online. They work out of their houses and usually have no training in the HVAC industry. We have not found any other online sellers who have state licenses to distribute HVAC products nor are they qualified to provide factory trained technical or warranty support. We however could be wrong and there might be another qualified certified licensed distributor out there. So if you are inquiring to any competitor ask them their credentials and their qualifications. If in doubt ask them to provide something in writing by any industry authorizing agency that authorizes or qualifies them to sell the products they advertise such as a state license, factory training. manufacturer authorization or certified industry training to sell the products they advertise. It's too easy for any seller to say "Yes I'm qualified and authorized and I've been in the HVAC business forever. Look at me, I'm selling on eBay. If I wasn't authorized the manufacturer wouldn't let me keep on selling their products, would they?". Yes the manufacturer would allow them because they have no legal recourse to stop them. Okay but what difference does it make? Price is price and I can get warranty and technical support from the factory just like any other product, right? Wrong! In the HVAC industry warranties and support are handled very differently from other manufacturers' products. In the HVAC industry products typically advertised such as this Goodman system are sold to licensed experienced licensed professionals called dealers by distributors. The distributor provides technical support as well as warranty support only to the licensed professional. When a distributor is unable to provide the proper technical support or warranty support then the licensed professional or distributor may call the manufacturer for assistance. This is why it is extremely important you make your purchase from a seller who is affiliated directly with the manufacturer as a distributor or dealer and is a licensed to distribute HVAC products in their state. Any product in the HVAC industry is only as good as the distributor or dealer selling the product because that source will be responsible to you for the entire warranty period. If the seller isn't affiliated and doesn't have factory training and industry training as well as the proper expertise, they won't be able to help you when you need technical or warranty support. You can't go back to the factory for anything because all HVAC manufacturers makes it very clear they don't support any HVAC products direct to the homeowner for warranty or technical support issues, especially for online sales.  Simply because a seller advertises a product or products from an HVAC manufacturer does not mean they have any affiliation with that manufacturer. In fact over 99% of sellers for HVAC equipment both on eBay and the internet have no affiliation with the manufacturer either directly or indirectly. So if I do my own complete installation I can act like the licensed professional and call you or the manufacturer when I need technical assistance or warranty support, right? Wrong again. No homeowner is qualified to do their own complete installation unless they are already licensed HVAC technicians. Plus HVAC Manufacturers will not and do not provide technical or warranty support to the end user or the homeowner. DESCO Energy will provide certain basic technical support to you. We'll even show you how you can do most of the installation yourself if you have the proper required skills and are a fairly competent do it yourselfer. However we require that you use a licensed professional to do the final part of any installation, check-out and start up of every boiler we sell. We also provide technical support to your licensed professional doing the final start up and check out of the system should the need arise. What happens if I just ignore your requirements and do the installation myself? DESCO Energy provides a warranty validation form to you that must be filled out and completed by the licensed professional of your choice. This form must be returned to us within 60 days of the sale of the equipment. Failure on your part to use a licensed professional and not complete and return the warranty validation form to our offices will result in no warranty coverage or continued technical support. In addition the use of a qualified competent licensed professional inures your installation is installed correctly and operating at maximum efficiency. No other seller makes an installation or warranty requirement, why does DESCO Energy? Remember at the beginning of this section when we stated that the overwhelming majority of sellers of HVAC products on the internet have no affiliation with the manufacturers of the products they advertise? Since these sellers have no factory approved training or industry training they themselves are box sellers and their primary interest is in selling boxes. If they have little or no knowledge of the products they're selling, they can't very well establish guidelines as to how the product is to be installed or serviced. You may, like many homeowners, only find  these facts out too late after you've made your purchase and try to get warranty or technical support and are left with a heat pump or other type of system without any support whatsoever. Once you have a warranty failure and need technical support, then is when you will find out the extreme limitations of a particular seller. You will also find that manufacturers will be of little or no help in providing any support to you. My goal is to save energy and save money on my installation. High contractor prices, expensive service and maintenance calls coupled with the extreme high energy costs are really hitting me hard. I don't want to just buy boxes. I want to save energy, increase comfort and save on installation costs with a system that lasts forever. Can DESCO Energy help me achieve those goals and how? We can and do provide everything to help you meet those goals except the part about the system that lasts forever. Realize that every piece of mechanical equipment will fail eventually. It's not a matter of if it fails, but when it will fail. If your new system is sized, designed and installed properly, you will avoid costly premature failures and expensive repairs while saving energy and increasing comfort. By following our guidelines and assistance that has been developed over the course of 34 years, we can help you achieve your goals and more.  Our goal at DESCO Energy is to make your installation successful and eliminate costly surprises. We measure your success by sizing. selecting, designing and providing a heating and/or cooling system that operates at peak efficiency and provides you many many years of improved comfort with the least amount of problems. We do this by providing the tools and expertise to help guide you through the process and to assist you in avoiding the problems that cause premature equipment failures, poor comfort and lack of any real significant energy savings. Our average homeowner saves 40 to 70% off of a contractor quoted installation, reduces their energy consumption at an average of 50% and increases their comfort levels significantly. No homeowner can achieve those goals by purchasing boxes from Box Sellers. If it was that simple we wouldn't have any need to provide the technical support and assistance we work so very hard at giving our customers. If it was so easy and simple we'd do it like other online sellers by simply listing the equipment and manufacturer's specifications in our ads and provide nothing more. But then we'd just be another Box Seller. We've taken the hard part out of it for you by providing technical expertise written in a format designed for the homeowner do it yourselfer. From the beginning we accurately size and select the most efficient system for you by use of our online sizing form. Oversizing of equipment is the leading cause of premature equipment failures, poor comfort and excessive energy consumption. We also provide the most complete website that gives you the most complete technical expertise including the most comprehensive library for HVAC installations on the internet. Our proven methods and technical assistance have provided thousands of homeowners with successful HVAC installations from Hawaii, Alaska, Texas, Canada and everywhere in between. For Questions and Assistance Please Call DESCO Energy Toll Free 877-265-9764  8-5 Eastern time   So when I purchase from DESCO Energy I'm getting more than a box, I'm getting the technical expertise that will help me to size, select, design and install the most efficient heating system possible for the lowest possible price with the full factory warranty support all provided by DESCO Energy. Before I thought that all online sellers were the same and that if I needed factory support I could go back to the manufacturer for everything. I just assumed that a seller advertising a product was affiliated with that manufacturer and an authorized distributor or dealer.  I'm glad I didn't make that mistake or the many other mistakes made so often by licensed professionals in the HVAC industry. All I have to do is follow your guidelines and I'll be set. Yes that's it! Now you're getting it. DESCO Energy provides a sizing form online that first helps you select the correct size system. Then we review the results of the results of the sizing form and select the size system that will efficiently heat and/or cool your house. Follow the links on this ad to go to the online sizing form or go to DESCO Energy .com and to the Start Here section and then to the Size My System page. Read through our website and you'll find most of your questions answered there. Use us as much as you like and we'll help you achieve your energy conservation goals. But what about guarantees? I've had contractors provide estimates on the size system I need and they guarantee their results. (At least they said they do.) How about DESCO Energy? We guarantee every statement we make not with just our words but with a $25,000 bond on every purchase you make from us. Further we not only provide the standard factory warranty to you but extended factory warranties such as the 20 year compressor warranty we have provided in the listed system on this ad. I've been checking your other competitors and I find most of them are working out of their homes. When I ask them for their technical training or affiliations they try to tell me they've been in the HVAC business for a long time and they know what they're doing. But none of them mention any affiliation with the manufacturers or provide any record of certified training. Does DESCO Energy have any certified training and what is your affiliation with the manufacturer and finally what kind of track record do you have? First you can verify DESCO's affiliation with Goodman. Go to Goodman's website and to their dealer section. Type in zip code 17403 and there you will find us listed as a Goodman authorized A+ dealer. Now do the same thing for any other competitor out there. What did you find? Nothing, no listing, no name, no nothing. And that's what you can expect when you have warranty problems years from now, a lot more of  nothing.  We provide a complete technical support staff on call for you daily. Each member of that technical support team is factory trained on every product we advertise. More importantly each technical support member has NATE certified training. NATE certified training indicates our technical support team has been trained to the highest HVAC industry level. NATE is supported and endorsed by every HVAC manufacturer in the industry and is the industry standard for training. As far as our record DESCO Energy has been in business for over 34 years with a perfect customer record. DESCO Energy is the only eBay seller of HVAC equipment that is a Member of the Better Business Bureau Online with "0" complains and has 100% feedback with no complaints filed against us in over 34 years. We have a complete brick and mortar operation located in South Central Pennsylvania with over 35,000 square feet in our facility, licensed as an HVAC Distributor in the State of Pennsylvania.  So now all I need to do is find a contractor and I'll be set. Will you recommend a contractor in my area who will do the installation for me? Obviously you didn't visit our website yet. Go to the Start Here section of our website and read this area thoroughly. It's not a contractor you need to do the final start up and hook up of the system but the licensed installer who works for the contractor. Most if not all contractors are trying to sell their own brand of equipment at their costly mark ups and profits. But the installers working for the contractor are almost always looking to make extra money doing their own installations and charge a lot less. You'll find more about this on our website and how to locate a qualified licensed installer of your choice.  You're purchasing your equipment from DESCO Energy saving you 50% or more off a contractor's price. Contractors are generally not interested in doing installations for homeowners who have already cut them out of their profit loop. In most instances you're paying the same price as the contractor or even less when you purchase form DESCO Energy. Now to be successful you need to find a qualified installer who will install the system or do the final start up and follow our guidelines on the warranty validation form. With this accomplished you are now on your way to significantly reducing your energy costs with a system that provides maximum comfort for many years of trouble free service.  Before you make your purchase for your HVAC system, remember like any other business not all sellers are created equal. If they were you'd just be buying boxes.   We are conveniently located in the Northeast 26 North State Street  York, Pa. 17403 Only minutes or hours from every major northeast city - Washington, D.C. 1.5 hours Baltimore 45 minutes - Philadelphia 90 minutes - New York City 2.5 hours Pittsburg 3 hours - Harrisburg and Lancaster 30 minutes For Questions and Assistance Please Call DESCO Energy Toll Free 877-265-9764  8-5 Eastern time   Click the Links Below for more information Shipping   About DESCO Energy    About Goodman      Warranties   Ducting     Selecting a System Sizing a System  More Info on Sizing    Size My System     Installation  Requirements     Tax Credits        New Construction     Locating an Installer     Online Manual J Sizing Form     Specifications More Info for the Do It Yourselfer      About Dual Fuel     Additional Ancillary Items     Dare To Compare Challenge and Receive a Discount?? Success as measured in energy efficiency, reduced energy consumption and equipment longevity. The first area of concern is the size and type of system to chose. This is where the most common mistake is made resulting in oversized equipment. Oversizing of systems is the main cause of poor comfort, excessive energy consumption, increased warranty claims and premature equipment failures. Forget about the old American adage and culture that believes "Bigger is better" and "If a little is good than a whole lot more should be great!"  The worst mistake is to put in a larger than required system. To begin make certain the system you select is the right size. How do I determine which size system would be the right size for me? DESCO Energy provides a detailed online sizing form. Using Manual J, the industry accepted standard for determining the exact amount of heating and cooling BTUs we provide you with a final requirement. Based on that requirement the correct size system can be selected. For example your house may need 36,780 BTUs of cooling and 79,456 BTUs of heating. The cooling BTUs result will also show you how much latent cooling and sensible cooling will be required. Latent cooling is the amount of cooling for removing moisture and sensible cooling is the amount of cooling required to lower the temperature to a desired indoor temperature when the outside temperature is at the highest load. The highest outdoor load or often referred to as the summer design temperature is specific to each region of the country. Then the energy losses are included which are a result of the size of the house, thermal efficiency from walls, ceilings and floors insulation as well as window sizes, types and location, doors, ceiling heights, square footage and other energy gains. These factors are then calculated to determine the final cooling loads. Heating loads are determined by the winter outdoor design temperature as well as the house energy efficiency factors to arrive at a final heating load. As you can see this is an involved process of calculations and when performed correctly will arrive at an accurate heating and cooling load. What if I simply replace the system with the size system I presently have? Since over 70% of existing systems are oversized the chances of arriving at an oversized system would be more likely. If you have also made changes to the house which have increased the thermal efficiency such as newer more efficient windows or doors or increased insulation, your house is more efficient and requires less heating and cooling. Selecting the system size based only on the present equipment capacities is a big mistake and your chances of having a successful installation are greatly diminished. The system size would be based on erroneous and obsolete information. I have received several quotes from contractors and they all told me the same size system. So wouldn't I be safe using their recommendations? The most difficult thing is to convince a homeowner their selection or the size selection made by several contractors is too large. Nobody wants a system that is not going to provide sufficient heating or cooling. Unless the contractors took measurements of the house and all the windows, doors etc. and performed an accurate Manual J calculation, their recommendations could and most probably are not accurate. It's very possible and happens all the time that a group of contractors in the same region are all using the same basic inaccurate rule of thumb to determine the size system they select. And the larger the system they can sell the more money they make. So if you want the system to be accurately sized, use our online sizing form. We use Manual J engineered and calculated sizing based on your local climate and your home's energy efficiency to determine the correct size and there's no guesswork. Although a contractor may defend their selection based on no customer complaining from insufficient heating or cooling, the fact that comfort levels are not what they could be and in the wake of that contractors path may be many prematurely failed systems which he has blamed on manufactures defects. If you are still not convinced go to the Department of Energy's website, HVAC industry websites as well as many HVAC manufacturers websites. They all warn homeowners about the abundant problem of system Oversizing caused by contractors not taking the time to perform Manual J calculations.  Why should I trust your calculations over a local contractors recommendations? You're located in another region of the country and you've never even seen my house. The contractors have been here and saw what my house looked like. Certainly they have a more accurate idea of what size system I need than DESCO Energy, don't they? The results of our online sizing are guaranteed to be accurate. When you purchase the recommended size system we provide after completing our online sizing form, we guarantee the system will perform to provide the cooling and heating requirements of the design outside temperatures. No we don't select equipment sizing based on a possible nuclear winter or that one in a hundred year period of extreme heating or cooling. If we did the equipment would be grossly oversized the other 99 years. One of our technical support team members provides more sizing of systems in one month than the average contractor performs in their entire careers. In one year we provide thousands of systems both locally and online. With that volume we can't afford to be wrong. In 34 years of business we have never had one compliant filed against us through the Better Business Bureau or any other source. To be honest we have had four systems in our entire history of 34 years that were sized incorrectly. We replaced those systems at no cost to those customers. To tell you we never make mistakes would not be the truth or believable. We feel we're good but we're not perfect. However in the past 15 years we have not had one system that was sized incorrectly either by over or under sizing. This is a record we work hard at to maintain. Accuracy is the most important part of determining the size system you will require. How do I go to your online sizing form? Click Here and you will be directed to a new window with our online sizing form. After you submit the online sizing form information you will receive an email verifying the information was received and processed. You will also be requested to call our Technical Support Team for a review of the results. The review process allows an opportunity to review the results for clarification. We respect your privacy and we do not make phone calls as a result of submitting the sizing form. You decide when to call us at your convenience. We will not intrude your privacy! How much of the HVAC installation can I perform myself? In most instances a skilled do it yourselfer can perform about 95% of the installation. No homeowner should attempt to do the final start up and check out of the system. This phase of the installation needs to be performed by a licensed installer. A homeowner can install ducting, place equipment in their respective locations, perform electrical wiring runs for high and low voltage lines where permitted by law, run refrigerant lines, install humidifiers, air filters, mount boilers, pumps, install floor heating or baseboard heating. soft solder water lines, run Pex tubing, installing condensate lines, etc. What should be performed by a qualified experienced installer is final wiring hook ups for power wiring and low voltage controls such as thermostats, air handlers, furnaces boilers etc., refrigerant line brazing, evacuation and leak checking of refrigerant lines, adjusting and checking of refrigerant charge, adding refrigerant, leak checking gas lines, final connection of gas lines, inspection and final assembly of venting and intake for furnaces and any and all other items that may be required by local codes. DESCO Energy will never sell any system or equipment to any homeowner who has no intention of employing the use of a qualified experienced licensed technician to perform the final hook up and start up. If this is your ultimate goal you should note that we do not provide any warranty or technical support for any system that has not been installed as per our required warranty validation form. We realize no other seller even mentions this issue but it is in your best interest to follow the guidelines and requirements we have established. This assures you of a system that will provide many years of trouble free service and maximum comfort and energy savings. There is a serious extremely high degree of danger if equipment is not installed correctly. Such dangers as carbon monoxide poisoning, suffocation, fire, electrical shock, serious water damage, pipes freezing and busting, personal injury in all forms are risks you impose upon yourself and your family or other occupants needlessly and foolishly in order to save a few dollars. It is so foolish not to follow our recommended guidelines in the name of saving a little more money. Realize you have already saved thousand of dollars by doing most of the installation yourself. But to do a complete installation without using a technician voids the warranty, places your loved ones at high risk without their consent and in situations that do cause serious property and bodily harm, the insurance company many times will deny any claims because you were breaking the law. Yes realize it is against federal, state and local laws to install refrigerant lines and in most areas to hook up gas furnaces as a homeowner. When an insurance company has an opportunity to deny a claim legitimately they will do so. There is absolutely no homeowner who is sufficiently experienced in doing their own installation without the assistance of a qualified experienced technician to perform the final start up and check out. If you were you'd most likely be in this business. Competitors don't mention the risks or potential problems that can arise nor do they provide guidelines or requirements. Is it because they don't realize the risks involved or because they don't care? You be the judge.  If you would like more details email us to request the warranty validation form. Do you provide a list of contractors in my area to do the final start up and installation? First we recommend looking for a qualified installer. The installer is the technician working for the contractor. They are not required to be a licensed contractor and we strongly recommend looking for a technician rather than a contractor. Contractors have their own brands of equipment they want to sell you and are generally not interested in installing equipment purchased elsewhere. The technicians working for contractors are almost always eager to do side jobs and you save even more. It is a qualified technician of your choice, not ours. We refrain from recommending installers due to past problems of inconsistencies and performance. As well we have absolutely no control of the contractors or installers who sign up for the preferred installer list. We do not want to give the impression of endorsing any installer to which a customer may mistakably think came with our blessing and then turns out to be everybody's worst nightmare. The best way to find a qualified installer is to network through friends and family, ask for referrals at local supply houses or simply stop a service technician next time you see one and talk to them. By all means interview the installer carefully about the methods and procedures they use, their time frame and make certain they come insured so you are protected.  Most importantly get it in writing. For more information on how to locate a qualified installer see our website. EBay rules do not permit us to provide links to our website from any ad but doing a Google search for DESCO Energy and we'll be right there. For Questions and Assistance Please Call DESCO Energy Toll Free 877-265-9764  8-5 Eastern time How do I know what parts of an installation I can perform and the installer needs to perform? First in all areas of the country it is illegal for anyone to handle refrigerants that does not possess a license as issued by the Environmental Protection Agency. Secondly you do not have the tools and equipment to provide proper evacuation and to measure the correct refrigerant charge. Most importantly refrigerant lines are required to be brazed with a nitrogen purge, an operation that requires experienced skill levels and equipment. The typical homeowner regardless of skills is not prepared to have the correct tools or experience to perform these tasks successfully. Some misguided homeowners may attempt to soft solder refrigerant lines and use other unacceptable methods in an attempt to hook up their own system complete without the use of a qualified technician. Penny wise and pound foolish, they only cheat themselves out of longevity, efficient operation and warranty protection. DESCO Energy provides a warranty validation form that is required to be filled out by a qualified licensed technician of your choice. The form must be returned to us within 60 days of purchase of the system for warranty protection. I also need a duct system design and might possibly need a duct system. Online sellers only provide equipment. What do I do to get a complete system? DESCO Energy provides free duct sizing with a system purchase. We also will provide duct review of any existing system to verify if the present system is adequate for the size equipment required. And we also provide the most energy efficient fiberglass ducting system precut to your requirements. Check our other ads on eBay. DESCO Energy is the only online source providing the complete system including ducting. You can order your complete heating and air conditioning system designed for easy installation like an erector set from A to Z including all other accessory components. For more information about duct systems click here How do I know which system is best for me? Natural gas, fuel oil, propane and now electric costs are skyrocketing. Which system is going to be the most cost effective and what energy is the best deal? Natural gas prices will continue to fluctuate the same as oil prices have for years because every day we are importing more and more of our natural gas as our demand outstrips our supply. As with fuel oil you can expect a lowering of prices when you least need it and higher prices over the winter. Unlike fuel oil, natural gas can't be stored so as the prices fluctuate another factor will be certain. As demand increases so will costs. Some natural gas customers bombarded by natural gas increases made a mistake by switching to a heat pump system to only now see electric costs increase 50-78% in various regions across the country. Baltimore Gas and Electric recently raised prices 74% and further increases will be likely. Other providers in the mid Atlantic region are to follow suit as these providers generate power form fuel oil and natural gas. What needs to be understood that as fuel prices increase electric power derived from hose same fuels and even coal will also be increasing. As fuel users switch from one fuel to another the increased demand will inevitably cause price increases no matter what direction you turn. Here are some basic guidelines. The most cost effective heating and cooling system is geothermal but the installation costs are enormous making this a poor payback - generally 15 to over 20 years. In most instances a geothermal system doesn't leave much room for the do it yourselfer. Only if you can get extremely creative it might be possible to cut those costs in less than half. For comfort and cost effectiveness radiant floor heating or baseboard with proper zoning make hot water heating an excellent choice. But here again high installation costs make this system a 6 to 12 year payback depending on how much of the installation you perform.  If you have natural gas consider a dual fuel system. A dual fuel system offers an excellent opportunity to reduce heating fuel costs another 20%. Dual fuel also adds protection against one energy source over another and provides choices. A dual fuel system is one that combines a fossil fuel furnace with a heat pump. The heat pump is most efficient between outdoor temperatures of 35 to 70 degrees. As the outdoor temperature falls the more efficient fossil fuel furnace operates. Most dual fuel systems provide an ultra efficient gas furnace with a heat pump. There are also fuel oil and propane furnaces in conjunction with a heat pump. Dual fuel systems cost slightly more than the fossil fuel furnace with air conditioning. However the cost difference provides a quick payback of less than one heating season by the lowered heating costs. How much can I reasonably expect to save by making a heating and air conditioning system a Do It Yourself project? The skilled homeowner who anticipates he can do the maximum amount of the installation as permitted by codes and laws and can perform 95% of the installation can expect to save 70% off the price of a contractor quoted installation. Further the average homeowner tells us they saved at least 50% off their energy costs. Taking a typical installation or replacement that is contractor quoted at $7,000 and with annual energy consumption at $3,400, the skilled do it yourselfer will save $4,900 for the installation and $1,700 in energy costs. That is a grand total savings of $6,600. In this equation the homeowner paid DESCO Energy $2,100 for the equipment and saved $6,600 for a payback of period of less than 4 months. Looking at this same investment strictly from a payback versus energy costs saved the homeowner will see a 15 month payback. So no matter how you do the math, there is no better payback you will find on any investment such as you're heating and cooling system. Looking at the homeowner who isn't proficient at do it yourself projects and elects to only do the bare minimum which in most equations this amounts to 30% saved off of a contractor quoted price or as in the above example 30% of $7,000 or $2,100. This no so proficient homeowner will still enjoy the same energy savings as above or  $1,700. This homeowner will see a total savings including contractor savings and energy of $3,800. He paid DESCO Energy $2,100 and the installer $2,800 for a total investment of $4,900. His savings will be $2,100 for the installation and $1,700 in energy costs for a total first year savings of $3,900 from an investment of $4,900 or a payback period of 15 months or 1 year and 3 months. From an energy savings comparison only of $1,700 from an investment of $4,900 his payback will be 35 months or slightly less than 3 years. In review of our homeowner who only uses contractors and has no involvement the payback based on energy savings would be $7,000 against $1,700 annual energy costs for a payback period of 4 years and 1 month. The information provided above is a result of surveys we performed from customers and their results. Naturally the more you do the more you save and the savings are significant. Most homeowners would like to upgrade their heating and cooling systems but with the average investment showing only 4 to 7 years payback, it isn't cost effective. But when a homeowner sees a payback of two years or less then that investment becomes worthwhile. And as energy costs continue to skyrocket, the investment becomes even more significant. Remember the best investment you can make isn't on Wall Street, it's on your street in your heating and cooling system. Where else could you make an investment that guarantees a return of two years or less and continues to pay dividends of 25% thereafter? As energy costs increase your investment continues to provide even greater returns. If any homeowner was given that type of investment opportunity they would be lined up around the nation. For over 80% of homeowners this same investment opportunity exists right in your house today. Speaking of investments what are these tax credits all about? Please note that energy tax credits only apply to new home construction in 2008. Like we really didn't need them on every home especially in these times of outrageous energy prices. The new energy tax credit bill provides for tax credits or rebates to homeowners primary residences as an incentive to improve the efficiency of your home. Included is insulation, windows and of course heating and cooling equipment. The other improvements such as windows and insulation are based on a percentage of the cost. Heating and cooling systems are based on a flat amount. Furnaces with 95% or higher efficiencies receive a $150 tax credit. Variable speed fan blowers receive a $50 tax credit. Split cooling systems and heat pumps of 15 Seer or Heat Pumps with 9 HSPF and a 12.5 EER are eligible for a $300 tax credit. Packaged heat pumps and cooling systems of 14 Seer and 12 EER are also eligible for a $300 tax credit. A tax credit is more valuable than a deduction in that the credit is matched dollar for dollar while a deduction is only a percentage of the given amount. To be legible for the tax credits the system and matched components must all be ARI certified and rated. There are numerous misleading ads out there where an advertiser exaggerated the efficiency ratings to promote a sale and there is no official rating of the system so there won't be a tax credit either. These sellers who proclaim honesty know what are the worst offenders offering 93% furnaces and plagiarizing manufacturers specifications to 96% or 15 Seer systems that aren't even rated or have no ARI match up. The only thing we can figure out is these sellers probably don't plan on being around next year when their customers go to file their income taxes and find out to their dismay the system they purchased isn't eligible for any tax credit. For more details about the tax credits and the new energy bill Click Here I'm building a new house. Where should I begin? New home construction is an excellent opportunity to provide the most energy efficient system. When new homeowners purchase a new home from a builder they are getting the cheapest builder grade low end model installed at the lowest possible price. \The average homeowner will focus on the color the kitchen cabinets and spend their entire focus on selecting the proper cabinets, etc. Then when it comes to the item that will consume the largest part of their monthly budget, their heating and cooling system, the only question they may ask is the name of  the manufacturer. With little or no regard for the efficiency or features of the system they think that because it is a name brand they recognize that it is dependable and efficient. Nothing could be further from the truth. If a homeowner realized how little the builder pays the installer and that the system selected was the lowest and cheapest model they could purchase and still keep it a name brand, homeowners wouldn't have to wait until their first heating season to realize they got exactly what they paid for. First go to our online sizing form and submit the requested information. Then if you have a copy of the plans to email us or go to this link and there you can get a free download of a great software to layout your heating and cooling system. Click Here to go to Home Plan Pro. After submitting the online sizing form as well as the layout of your house we can provide a layout of the duct system and equipment selection and location. What about the warranties? How can you provide warranty protection when we are located in another state from DESCO Energy? Goodman states there is no warranty on products ordered over the internet. How then do we have warranty protection? First it is extremely important to understand how warranties are handled on do it yourself installations versus contractor installations. When you have a contractor perform your installation it is the responsibility of that contractor to provide the warranty service and support after the sale. The manufacturer provides warranty support to the contractor who in turn provides warranty support to the homeowner. The manufacturer does not provide warranty support directly to the homeowner. The only time a manufacturer may get involved is when the contractor fails to properly service the equipment via the terms of the warranty because the contractor is no longer in business, is incompetent, can't fix the problem or fails to respond. In these circumstances the manufacturer may elect to contact their distributor in the area to locate another dealer or have their field representative provide the warranty support. Unless the homeowner purchased a labor contract from the manufacturer the only obligation the manufacturer will have is to provide warranty parts.  When you purchase a system online you are acting as your own contractor. To purchase at wholesale you do not have the same warranty support you may have if you had a contractor perform the installation. You as the contractor must realize there is no longer free labor support. You will receive the equivalent warranty from DESCO Energy that a contractor receives from DESCO Energy. We will provide warranty coverage for parts as shown in the manufacturers warranty. However because we provide certain coverage that extends beyond the manufacturers standard warranties it is not correct for us to say the warranty protection we provide is the standard manufacturers warranty. For example on the Goodman 13 Seer heat pumps and air conditioning systems the standard factory warranty is only 5 years parts including the compressor. But DESCO Energy provides an extended Goodman warranty that includes a 99 year compressor warranty and 10 years on all parts. On all equipment the warranty protection and coverage is the responsibility of DESCO Energy. Goodman as well as all other HVAC manufacturers do not provide any warranty coverage direct to any homeowner. DESCO Energy will always be your source for warranty coverage for the entire life of the warranty. Any parts needed to be replaced under the terms of the warranty must be returned to DESCO Energy. Replacements parts are sent immediately for any request and must be prepaid including shipping. Shipping of new replacement parts and their return to us shall be the responsibility of the homeowner or end user. In warranties where the entire unit shall be replaced as a result of any heat exchanger failures, the cost to return the item, labor to replace and the cost to ship the new replacement furnace shall be the responsibility of the homeowner or purchaser. Lifetime warranties are only applicable to first time purchaser and are non transferable. Lifetime warranties revert to 20 year coverage for secondary transfer to other parties. In the event of warranty parts we require the system must have been installed correctly as evidenced by the return receipt of the warranty validation form provided. Because we provide coverage beyond the factory warranties and because labor allowances are granted in specific situations the warranty coverage is more than the factory warranty and is therefore the sole responsibility of this seller, DESCO Energy. At no time shall the warranty coverage offered for all products we provide be less than the equivalent Goodman factory warranty. How is my system shipped? All small item orders such as thermostats, humidifiers, air filters or single small component orders are shipped UPS. However if your order is for a complete system and small ancillary items, they shall all be packed together and sent through our carrier - ABF. Our common carrier ABF, also referred to as a trucking company has shipping terminals located throughout the United States. The most economical means of shipping any system is to the terminal closest to you for your pick up. We have negotiated our contract with the shipper for a 70% discount to most locations. The shipping costs are always paid to ABF direct and not to DESCO Energy when you pick up your shipment at the terminal or if you elect to have home delivery. You do not pay any penalty for freight collect charges and only the exact amount of discounted shipping costs. Most items we advertise are in stock at our warehouse. With shipping times you can estimate any order will take about a week or more for delivery again depending on your location. In the shipping of any item(s) it is the responsibility of the customer to inspect all items before signing the receipt from the shipper. It is very important to open all boxes and packages and inspect for hidden damages because you cannot go back and claim damages once you have signed. To settle a claim with any carrier can take up to 60 days and as with any damage claim can be quite time consuming. DESCO Energy does offer a $40 insurance claim policy. In the event your shipment should arrive damaged you will immediately notify the shipper as well as DESCO Energy and make note of such damage on the receipt. If the entire shipment is damaged, refuse the entire shipment. If only part of the shipment is damaged or if the damage is slight, take the items that are satisfactory and reject those that aren't. For slight damage simply make note of the damage and accept the order. If you purchase the insurance we will then settle the claim with you within 7 days and go back on your behalf and file a damage claim with the shipper. However note that at no time does our policy or the shippers cover hidden damages. For this reason it is extremely important to inspect all items before signing for them.  Rarely do we ever have shipping damage and if you check our feedback customers comment about how well our shipping department packs their orders. Over the years we have learned how to pack to avoid most shipping damage. For this reason it is rare to have a shipping damage claim. But if you purchase the additional insurance and have a problem you'll be glad you did. If you live in the Mid Atlantic region you may also choose to pick up your equipment. All systems such as furnaces, heat pumps boilers, air conditioners receive a $25 discount when you pick up at our warehouse.   How do I determine what my shipping costs are going to be? Please refer back to the beginning of the ad to the shipping calculator. . Need a freight quote? Please refer back to the beginning of the ad for the shipping calculator.   An HVAC system is a major investment. I want to be certain I'm getting the best value for my money and my purchase is from a reputable source. Why should I purchase from DESCO Energy and what makes them any different than other online sources? This is the most important question any homeowner could ask. There are a lot of ads on the internet all proclaiming to be the biggest, best, honest, cheapest, etc. These nebulous statements made without facts to back it up have no effect on the typical do it yourself homeowners who are far more sophisticated to be influenced by this type of MTV marketing.  DESCO Energy offers you may things to be assured you are making your selection and purchase from a reputable company. First and foremost we are a Member in Excellent Standing with the Better Business Bureau both online and locally. We stand by and practice the policies of the Better Business Bureau so you can be assured your purchase is safe. DESCO Energy is Bonded by BuySafe. BuySafe provides up to $25,000 protection to you to guarantee your purchase is as advertised and that all statements and claims made in our ads are true and correct. If for any reason we do not do or provide those services and items as described in our ads you have the additional BuySafe protection bond that will step in if required to make it right. Obtaining BuySafe protection requires rigorous and detailed financial and credibility in the industry to which we are involved.  The BuySafe standards are very high and involved. Every business using the BuySafe protection seal has been verified and met high standards for financial health, stability, longevity and customer satisfaction.  DESCO has over 34 years in the Heating and Air Conditioning Business. We have provided thousands of successful heating and air conditioning systems to homeowners, business and industries over the course of our history in every part of the nation as well as Canada. In that time frame not one customer has ever had to file a complaint with any outside agency. In other words we have 100% track record in 34 years. All our technical support team is NATE certified. NATE is the leading source of training and testing for the air conditioning industry. We have a full staff of 5 highly trained technical support members at your service to assist you with questions, size your system, provide ducting layouts, select the most efficient system for you, provide floor radiant heat layouts, etc. Their cumulative experience is over 100 years of HVAC experience. One of our technical support team members will size more systems in a month than a typical HVAC contractor will do in their entire careers. At that rate we can't afford to be wrong. To our knowledge we are the only Goodman source for products that is an A+ Dealer which can be verified on Goodman's website and through Goodman customer care. DESCO Energy is the only source on eBay that details and explains factory warranties and their procedures in writing. Is DESCO Energy the biggest online advertiser of HVAC equipment and systems? Our competition certainly thinks we are but we have no idea or how that could be verified. Since we don't request or apply any pressure to our customers on eBay to provide feedback, the feedback represents only a small fraction of those who have made purchases. Naturally we would prejudicially think we are the best. But again that is an opinion reserved for every customer and their specific experience, not ours. We are a gold level power seller with 100% feedback on eBay and in 34 years the Better Business Bureau has never received one dispute or complaint from any of our customers. So how does DESCO Energy stand up against their competition? First we have never found one other competitor listed on Goodman's website nor having any direct affiliation with Goodman. No other eBay power seller of HVAC equipment has a 100% feedback rating. No other power seller is NATE certified or provides a 35+ year history from selling tens of thousands of systems with absolutely no customer complains ever filed against us. No other power seller of HVAC equipment is listed in any membership with the Better Business Bureau. Let us repeat this statement: No other eBay advertiser of HVAC equipment is a Member of the Better Business Bureau. No other power seller has a 100% record with the Better Business Bureau with no complaints filed against them. In other words those sellers who are not members of the Better Business Bureau have had actions filed against them by disgruntled customers. Obviously the sellers forced their customers to file action against them through the Better Business Bureau to obtain resolution because the seller wouldn't do it on their own. Every past and potential customer lists membership in the Better Business Bureau as the first and most important factor when making a decision about making a purchase. The second most important factor our direct affiliation with Goodman as an A+ Dealer. After they made a purchase we asked our customers what was the single most important reason why you purchased from DESCO Energy. Almost unanimously the response was from the service and knowledge provided by our technical support team. Price was usually the third most important reason.  And our competition still tries to impress with unsubstantiated claims using words such as biggest, most honest and cheapest. Any homeowner sophisticated and knowledgeable enough to install their own HVAC system is far more advanced than the average person and thinks outside the Box. You deal in facts and want information that is useful to you. Reading this ad indicates you are that homeowner who thinks far beyond the average homeowner. You're serious about saving energy and you are also looking to have the best system your budget allows. On average you will perform a better installation that rivals most contractor installations. Unlike a contractor you'll take the time to do it right and read the directions first. You're on a learning curve and you're need is for information that will get the project completed with the least amount of stress. You also realize  this isn't only about saving money. It is about increasing comfort and providing a system that will be of optimum performance for many years without failure. Also important is to realize you are purchasing from a source that is directly affiliated with the manufacturer that has a long solid positive history with it's customers and can provide useful information and support when required. You know that ads with terms such as biggest, most honest and cheapest are not impressive and aren't useful. Certainly you want the best pricing but you also need a whole lot more. With manufacturers all stating they do not provide warranty support to homeowners for items ordered over the internet and realizing that warranty support has to come from the seller it is vitally important that source knows everything about selecting, sizing, installation and technical support and is going to be around for many years to come should the need for warranty or technical support arise in the distant future. Unfortunately there are online advertisers promoting HVAC systems as though they were the same as a major household appliance and requiring little or no valid support in the future. By their lack of clarity on warranty and technical support they leave the impression that selling an HVAC system will be supported by the manufacturer directly. It is important to understand that no HVAC manufacturer will support any warranty directly to a homeowner regardless of from whom, where or how the purchase was made. In the case of extended warranty protection as provided by DESCO Energy it is important to understand first and foremost these warranties are supported by DESCO Energy and not the manufacturer.  So how does DESCO Energy compare to the competition? With 100% record and a Member in Good Standing with the Better Business Bureau, $25,000 BuySafe protection for every online transaction, 34 Years in the HVAC Business, over 100 years of knowledge base from our NATE Certified Technical Support Team, Real Brick and Mortar Operation with offices, training center, and multiple warehouses of over 35,000 square feet, Inventory In Stock on Premises, Goodman A+ Dealer verified on Goodman's website, Stocking 5 major HVAC manufacturers including York, Tappan, Goodman, Fedders and Gibson and 2 boiler manufacturers, plus much more inventory from other major HVAC manufacturers, a complete fiberglass duct fabrication shop, a comprehensive and detailed website designed solely to technically assist the homeowner do it yourselfer, thousands of successful HVAC homeowner and business installations,  and a staff that is ready to assist you to help your success in installing your own HVAC system. Goodman is incredibly now the largest brand of residential heating and cooling in the nation. Goodman started out 26 years ago by Harold Goodman purchasing other heating and air conditioning companies. Goodman's most recent purchase 6 years ago was Amana. And last year Goodman went from the largest privately held HVAC manufacturer to a public company. The changes made both in technology of manufacturing and products has put Goodman at the forefront of the HVAC industry. Although Goodman is not the most known brand to homeowners, they have gained their market share by marketing to their contractor base. It was a back door approach that has written a new chapter on how a new emerging manufacturer can gain major market share in an age old industry dominated by long standing and established companies. Gaining second place market share without spending incredible sums of money on marketing. It would have been impossible for Goodman to gain the market share they have today employing the standard advertising against other more well known manufacturers. How did they do it? By marketing directly to the HVAC contractors with a quality product line at a great price with the strongest warranties in the industry, Goodman has made themselves a brand that today other major manufacturers fear and work diligently to compete against. The acquisition of the Amana line has brought to the homeowner a remarkable hi tech product line that other manufacturers can't match both in terms of technology, warranty and price. For example the new heat pumps are built better, have higher efficiencies and have been the best price on the market. In particular is a new modular variable speed air handler which has also been added to this year's product line. In addition DESCO Energy provides a 99 year and 10 year Goodman warranty. For natural gas users the new GMV95 gas furnace with 2 stages and variable speed has all the latest features for maximum comfort, energy savings and a price that can't be touched by competitors.  The GMV95 is eligible for a $200 tax credit plus having such advanced features as intelligent igniter technology and auto comfort mode. Most other major manufacturers do not have a competing 95% or higher furnace that is eligible for the energy tax credit rebate, yet also provide all the other energy and comfort enhancing features. As though that wasn't enough there is also a ten year total replacement warranty in the event of a heat exchanger failure, lifetime heat exchanger warranty and five years on all other parts. The new GMV95 furnace comes at a price which is less than other major manufacturers sell their lesser efficiency furnaces with no variable speed and no other energy and comfort features and a low end warranty. And some the leading known brand name manufacturers are still using clam shell heat exchangers instead of the longer lasting more efficient tubular heat exchanger technology as in the new GMV95. Originally Goodman was known for many years as the leader in lower priced base line equipment without any frills or features. Today Goodman has shown homeowners and the entire industry they can also produce the high end systems with more features and technology than any other leading manufacturer at a price that can't be touched. So if you ever think Goodman's prices are high, take a look at the others and you'll soon appreciate what Goodman offers in technology, comfort, price and warranty.  If the terms variable speed, auto comfort mode, igniter technology, etc. seem foreign to you, we recommend visiting DESCO Energy's new more comprehensive website where these features are explained in complete detail. There you will not only learn what the features do but the incredible changes they provide in your comfort levels and energy consumption. A Dual Fuel System is perfect for you. It is the most efficient system available today with the best payback. Between outdoor temperatures of 35 to 70 degrees there is nothing more efficient for heating than a heat pump. Less than 1/2 the cost of heating with an ultra efficient gas furnace, the heat pump will efficiently provide ample heating in the moderate winter days. Looking at a weather chart you will have the majority of winter hours in the moderate temperature range for most parts of the country. When the outdoor temperature falls below 35 degrees the ultra efficient gas furnace will operate while the heat pump is off. Costing only slightly more than the equivalent system with air conditioning only, the dual fuel system pays for itself in about two winter months of operation. And keeps on saving energy while you gain maximum comfort levels. In addition you have ultra efficient air conditioning. There is no way to stop the escalating energy costs and especially those for natural gas but there are solutions to reduce your energy consumption. Compare this system cost to a contractor installation and you will literally save thousands of dollars both in contractor costs and energy savings. Typically a Do It Yourself project for HVAC will save 70% off of a contractor installation while increasing energy efficiency. Most homeowners realize they can only afford the builder's models when shopping for a replacement HVAC system from a contractor. And usually they wait until the system fails to determine they need a replacement. Skyrocketing energy costs are sufficient reason to consider replacing your present heating and air conditioning system. Regardless of your Do It Yourself skills you can save form 30 to 70% of a contractor quoted installation. From simply purchasing the correct size system and having a licensed technician do the installation to doing most of the installation and then having a licensed technician only perform the final hook up and start up you will save substantially. We provide complete assistance in sizing and selecting the most complete and energy efficient system for your budget. There are numerous mistakes that can occur in your attempt to install or purchase your own HVAC system. There are also extremely important facts you need to know and be aware of sellers online who are not authorized to sell the products they advertise. There are drop shippers who work out of their homes with no inventory or certification in the heating and air conditioning industry as well as unauthorized contractors selling HVAC systems online propagating the very problems that occur in epidemic proportions in the HVAC industry. Your warranty coverage and technical support form these sellers is solely contingent upon their limited knowledge and existence. Here you can learn how to identify these sellers referred to in our industry as Box Sellers and to avoid potential problems associated with their sales of HVAC equipment. S.E.E.R. Solutions for Energy Efficient Results was created by DESCO and in cooperation with the manufacturers we represent to assist you in purchasing and installing a complete energy efficient system that complies with the manufacturers requirements for a complete Authorized Warranty. No other seller online works harder for you than DESCO. By providing the resources for you to properly size and select the most efficient system you will see the difference SEER by DESCO can accomplish for you. Oversizing of systems coupled with undersized ducting is the number 1 reason why HVAC systems fail prematurely. This practice accounts for 97% of warranty claims. DESCO with SEER has the lowest warranty claims of any legitimate HVAC distributor in the industry. Box Sellers online have the highest warranty claims and customer dissatisfaction. Their lack of education and protocol for proper procedures is the reason all major HVAC manufacturers will NOT provide warranty support for the products they sell. The problem of equipment oversizing and undersized ducting may not rear it's ugly head until years from now with a major system failure and long after that seller went out of business. DESCO with over 34 years in the HVAC Distribution has a track record that can't be beat. We back up all our product sales with a $25,000 bond. What guarantee do the Box Sellers give? If you can't find it easily and it isn't detailed in writing, it doesn't exist. They'll tell you the product comes with a warranty but they never provide any details. Electric heat is used in every heat pump to provide additional heating as outside temperatures decreases and system output decreases. Also referred to as strip heat, back up heat, emergency heat and auxiliary heat. The Trion Hi Media Filter provides hi micron filtration. Unlike electrostatic filters which have a high failure rate the hi media filter operates equivalently in removing pollen, smoke, dust mites, etc. For the new hi efficiency furnaces a high media filter is a must for protecting the sensitive components and condensing coil from dirt baking on to the furnace. The White Rodgers thermostat is the greatest technology thermostat to properly control the 2 stage heating of the GMV95 furnace or the Goodman Variable Speed Heat Pumps. Plus we warrant the White Rodgers thermostat for 3 full years. White Rodgers is the second largest thermostat manufacturer only next to Honeywell. Emerson Technologies the parent company to White-Rodgers is also the manufacturer of the Copeland Scroll Compressors.  Why did we recommend a humidifier? All areas that require heat benefit from a humidifier. "But I live in the South and it's humid here. Why would I ever need a humidifier?" When you talk about humidity levels it is always referred to as relative humidity. The humidity level is relative to the temperature. A 30 degree day with 70% relative humidity will provide 15% relative humidity when that same air is heated to 74 degrees. Low humidity is a perfect breeding ground for viruses, colds and respiratory infections. Low humidity also makes you feel cold as any air that passes over your skin feels cold as the drier air evaporates moisture from your skin rapidly. Low humidity dries out wood, antiques, musical instruments and other important items in your house such as the construction materials as well. Low humidity produces high amounts of static electricity which shocks and can also cause failure of electronic equipment as well. No other single device in your heating and air conditioning system can provide as many benefits at such a low cost as a humidifier. Most importantly a humidifier increases comfort, significantly reduces respiratory infections and saves energy by allowing decreased temperature settings with an increased comfort level.     Be Safe Buy Safe  Make your HVAC purchase from the only ebay seller that is Factory Authorized to Provide the Goodman Factory Warranties direct to you! DESCO Energy The absolute only source listed on Goodman's Website     Sizing Once you've determined the type of system and fuel you'll be using the next item is the size or capacity, efficiency and features. To determine the correct size system you'll need to look at many factors such as the type, size and construction and direction of walls, windows, roof and location and direction. All these factors and more determine what size system you need to install. First we need to deprogram all the misleading information you've been told about sizing an HVAC system correctly. Please note there are only two methods of correctly sizing an HVAC system. The right way using Manual J as a basis and the wrong way. Most likely the method you have learned one of the following wrong ways; The contractor told me this was the right size. I had several estimates and all the contractors told me this size. I used one of those charts that show you how many square feet per ton. My neighbor's house is this size and that's the size system they have. And on and on... Too many HVAC contractors are notorious for using rules of thumb for too many applications. Why? It's quicker and easier to use a Rule of Thumb. The problem with these sizing methods is they cause you to purchase a system that will more often be too large. So what's wrong with a larger system? After all it's a common American belief when a little is good then more is even better, right? Of all the wrong decisions that can be made about an HVAC system selecting an oversized system is the worst. Bigger is not always better! Here's Why? First and most importantly the larger system will fail prematurely and the comfort level will be less than desirable. If it's an air conditioning system the cooling won't run long enough to properly dehumidify the air. The comfort result is a house that's cold but clammy.  The hidden result is a compressor that short cycles. The compressor fails long before it normally would have if the system was sized correctly. Note that short operating cycles destroy HVAC equipment and decrease comfort. Why install a larger system that costs more initially when a smaller system will give you the effective results you need? Contractors do this because it's safe. Homeowners are usually unaware of the problem because the destruction goes on unnoticed to the untrained eyes and ears. Homeowners and contractors in our field are installing a system that won't provide sufficient heat or cooling. However this problem rarely ever happens. A furnace that is oversized produces short cycles of hot blasts of air instead of warm air. Again short cycles will destroy any HVAC equipment prematurely. A normal operating cycle will last anywhere from 12 to 15 minutes or more. Shorter operating cycles prohibit the unit from obtaining normal operating temperatures and result in the system never obtaining operating efficiency. Much the same as your automobile that is only operated for short periods of time, the engine never gets warm enough to operate at the maximum efficiency levels and the net result is higher gasoline usage and short life cycle. Remember that a heating system has to obtain very high temperatures in the heat exchanger as a result of the burning gas. During this process there is a tremendous strain the heat exchanger as the system expands due to the increasing temperatures and stress on the motors due to starting torques required. Constant starting torques on the motors and continual expansion and contraction of the materials result in a premature failure. These are hidden effects that you don't see or notice until the repair bill comes or the furnace fails completely beyond reasonable repair. What you will notice is the discomfort associated with oversized equipment. Instead of a more balanced temperature the result is hot blasts of air and wider temperature fluctuations resulting in larger temperature swings. Many homeowners assume this is simply normal and become accustomed to this type of operation. Oversizing of equipment is such a chronic problem that it has become epidemic. In fact the problem has become so severe the US Department of Energy has published many articles and warnings about the problem to you the consumer. Oversizing of equipment is the single biggest problem of premature equipment failures in the HVAC industry. Why does this problem proliferate in the HVAC industry? An HVAC contractor and a homeowner's worst fear in selecting an HVAC system is that it won't heat or cool sufficiently. Having no experience or confidence in our industry's accepted design and engineering standards such as Manual J,  results in a guess. To be safe the guess will always be on the extremely large system. The end result is a system that is not only uncomfortable, but also an Energy Hog!  There is remedy to this problem. At DESCO we're putting an end to the epidemic oversizing of HVAC systems for you to help you avoid premature equipment failure, increase comfort levels and increase energy savings and less initial cost as well. DESCO will at no charge size your HVAC system accurately with guaranteed sizing results. Simply Click Here to go to our online sizing form. Fill out the requested information and then push the submit button. You will the receive an email indicating the information was received and the results are ready for you. Our technical staff will review those results with you to be certain all information is correct. Most importantly there is no charge for this service. You can then be assured you know the correct size heating and cooling system for your house based not on guess but real engineering standards. Our HVAC computer sizing is Manual J as the basis. Manual J is the form and method recognized as the correct engineering method to determine correct sizing of any residential structure. In addition to this software we have added other limits and calculations in addition to the Manual J program. These additions limitations for ventilation for extremely efficient tight construction such as ICF. Are we accurate? In one month each technical associate in our company will size more systems than the average contractor will size in his entire career. Our software system is one of two that has been accepted and recognized by most governing agencies in our industry including the US Dept. Of Energy. After 34 years and with the volume of equipment we sell we can't afford to be wrong. Our sizing takes into consideration all effects of your house including geographic location, your climate data for your specific region, the construction of your house and the insulating efficiencies of all walls and windows. We can also tell you the effect of adding more insulation or increasing the efficiency of the windows and the effect this will have on the size of the HVAC system. We realize we provide redundant information on the importance of correct sizing intentionally to stress to you the importance of this issue. For new construction we strongly recommend in addition sending us the plans for the house either via a sketch that is faxed to 717-846-3880 or emailed to info@descoenergy.com. You can also mail a copy to us direct at Technical Sales Dept.  DESCO, 26 N. State St., York, Pa. 17403 All drawings should include floor plans, elevation view and direct of either North, South, East or West. Drawings do not have to be to scale. If you wish to do a computer layout there are free downloads of programs on the internet. Attachments should be in standard office format such as pdf. jpeg, gif or wrks. Our virus protection many times will not scan cad drawings effectively. In the event of improper scanning the firewall may delete the attachment or email. We recommend converting all cad formats to standard formats such as dwg or office formats. We provide this sizing service to you at no charge. If you want a room by room printed analysis, we do have a service charge for this. However in the case of in floor radiant heat we will as necessity requires provide a room by room analysis for estimating purposes. We do not provide the individual room results or analysis unless there is a purchase of a system.          After Sizing comes the Duct System   If you're looking to replace or install a forced air system using a blower to circulate the air the most important ingredient is the duct system. We provide a complete detailed download article about duct sizing on our web site. Links to this article and other valuable information are located at our eBay store education section at the beginning of this ad. The most common mistake is the oversight of the importance of the duct system which distributes the air throughout the house. Finding detailed information about proper design and installation of a duct system is difficult.. Without a properly designed duct system you may end up with the worst nightmare you could imagine. A properly designed duct system will provide even comfort and temperature throughout every area of the house. The duct system is a major factor in determining how long the equipment survives. Proper air flow is critical for performance and efficiency. Remember there is no substitute for a properly designed and installed duct system. The blower or fan in an HVAC system is only capable of forcing so much air through a certain size duct. The most common concept and mistake made by many contractors and homeowners is attempting to increase the size of the equipment to compensate for a poorly designed duct system and the associated discomfort it provides. The only remedy for this problem is to correct the design of the duct system. Each system size needs to have a minimum air flow rated in cfm or cubic feet per minute of air. If the main equipment does not have the correct amount of air flow the net result will be discomfort and premature failure of the equipment. In the case of heat pumps where air flow is extremely critical there has to be a minimum air flow of 380 cfm per ton. 400 cfm per ton is the ideal mark. Anything less than this minimum will result in poor performance and compressor failure. Even though the warranties sometimes provide lifetime protection, the warranties are void when the compressor fails as a result of improper air flow. If you receive the compressor at no cost, the cost to replace the compressor isn't cheap. Besides who wants a system where the compressor has to be changed frequently? The two major problems in our industry are oversized equipment and undersized duct systems. This is a perfect recipe for premature failure and inefficiency. To compound problems even further the new variable speed blowers will surge when applied against a duct system that is inadequate. This surging is a result of the sensor on the blower seeking to maintain a constant air flow. An undersized duct system creates too much resistance to the blower. The resultant blower surging will absolutely drive someone crazy. Imagine the blower going from full capacity to minimum continually in a matter of seconds. This condition is easily remedied by having a properly designed duct system.  Pay attention to the duct system. Even if you're replacing an existing system, don't assume the duct system has been designed or installed correctly. At DESCO we will review the duct system to be certain it is sized correctly with enough air outlets and return inlets. If this is a new installation we'll size the duct system for you. If this is a replacement system we will review the duct system as well.  We want to make certain all the systems we sell provide maximum efficient, comfort and longevity. In addition to analyzing your duct system DESCO also provides the best duct materials available. We will precut fiberglass duct board for you to make your HVAC installation the most efficient and quiet possible. Fiberglass duct board is mildew resistant and easily constructed in a matter of seconds. Unlike unforgiving expensive sheet metal with sharp edges that require tin snips to cut and adjust, fiberduct can be cut with a large razor knife. Plus fiberduct Tough Guard is already well insulated and is perfect for attic and crawl space applications. At DESCO we can design and ship a duct system with any equipment order like an erector set ready for your assembly when it arrives.
