When installed with an optional automatic transfer switch, this whole house standby generator runs on natural gas or propane and will automatically start and power your house within 30 seconds of your main power going out. When the main power is restored, the unit will automatically shut down and switch back to main power. It's like magic!    Transfer switches are available on the internet or from your local electrician. A transfer switch is not included with this unit and I do not sell transfer switches.Included is a step-by-step photographed installation guide.   This generator has enough to power most homes up to 3500 square feet. If you are a handy do it yourself person then you can hook this unit up yourself. If you call an electrician to hook this up, he should be able to hook this unit up in a day. The gas company will come out and hook the gas line to the unit. If you don't have natural gas then this unit will operator on propane.   You will need to order a transfer switch for your specific application. This unit is about the size of an external air conditioner unit. It looks about the same and you will install the generator outside near where the power enters your house. This is a smart generator, when not in use, the generator will start itself once a week and run for 12 minutes to make sure that everything is working properly and keep the engine lubricated. If there is an issue, then it will let you know via the control panel. This means that your generator will be standing by to power your home at anytime. You will need a loading dock or forklift to unload it to receive the lowest (commerical or business) freight rate.  You can pick the generator up at your local truck terminal and you would pay the commerical or business rate.  The unit will fit in the back of a standard pick up truck. You will pay the highest shipping charges if you have this delivered to your home and you don't have a loading dock.  This is because the trucking companies charge extra (About $150 extra) to send a truck out with a lift gate. If you have a friend with a business, that has a loading dock, you can have the generator shipped to them and you will receive the lowest shipping rate.
