Description
A RARE FIND, THIS IS A 20 YEAR DESIGN LIFE SET OF BATTERIES THAT WAS IN SERVICE FOR LESS THAN 4 YEARS, THEY TEST EXCELLENT WITH THE MIDTRONICS TESTER. Now you can purchase a great set of batteries at a great price, this is a cost effective power system for your remote cabin or workshop. This package consists a set of 6 batteries, (07/2003 manufacture date, all installed at same time in 4th quarter of 2003) C&D 4XTLC-07 Flooded (industy term for battery like your car with liquid in it) Lead Acid Batteries. This battery weighs about 275lbs and each battery has 4 cells in it, so it produces 8 volts. With this set you can run a small to medium size cabin lights, microwave, etc. For longer runtime an additonal battery bank would be the first addition I would make. These batteries were part of a DOD leased building backup power system in denver and were online for 4 years. Denver has very stable power so it the cells were hardly cycled, it shows in their test results. All the batteries test excellent with the midtronics tester (see explaination below) and that is confirmed by their voltage and load meter tests. When tested these batteries tested from 95-105% of the reference value, truly excellent condition. This is the newest set of these large batteries I have found in the 5 years I have been selling batteries on ebay.As you can see from the photos, the batteries are in like new condition. To see the other type of Solar Items I have for sale go to my Ebay Store: SolarEnergyQuest by clicking on the store icon next to my seller name. Battery Pack: This battery back consists of a premium 20 year design life set of flooded lead acid batteries made by C&D Technologies each 2 volt cell delivers 400 AH (8 hr rate to 1.75 Vpc At 77F) each (equlivalent to 1600 ah bank at 12 volts). This bank can produce 800AH at 24 volts, or 400AH at 48v. Because these batteries are 8 volts per battery and the cell interconnectors are molded lead, I do not recommend using these batteries for a 12 volt system (the molded buss bar can be cut to make 12 volt system, but why bother). THIS IS A LARGE AND POWERFUL BATTERY BANK THAT WAS ONLINE FOR LESS THAN 1/5 OF ITS DESIGN LIFE. This is a powerful bank that can supply the needs of a small to middle size remote home. These batteries require truck shipping. Each battery is 8 volts, produces 400ah/cell (each battery has 4 2-volt cells, similar to your 12 volt car battery) and weighs 275 lb each and you are getting 6 of these batteries. They are all were also tested with a Midtronics Celltron (www.midtronics.com) industrial battery tester (approved IEEE testing method) and all tested in excellent condition. These batteries can be wired in series and parallel to deliver 24, or 48 volt power whatever your inverter requires. That flexibility makes them perfect for a Solar Inverter. I have additional sets of these batteries, make your home a standalone, utility free zone. These batteries can be connected together using inexpensive copper pipe that has been cut to the proper length and has two holes for connecting the terminals, that is a cost effective way of making buss bars to interconnect the batteries. If you need more power then I suggest acquiring additional identical sets. Here you can download the general technical specifications that apply to this battery type (look for xt4lc-07, they changed the model number and reduced the AH by 31%, but basically the same)http://www.cdstandbypower.com/product/battery/flooded/pdf/12_1001.pdfSolar System: This battery system can easily be used for solar powered (solar, wind, hydro) homes, cabins, or workshops. The batteries are premium quality designs that will provide a long life when used properly. The batteries are very long life batteries (20 year design-life) and designed for power supply usage such as remote cabin, computer centers or grid tie solar systems. If being used in a remote solar powered home then you may want to purchase additional battery sets so the battery pack is not deeply discharged, especially with a large home. As with any deep discharge battery the lower the depth of discharge the less total cycles the battery will do. I have can provide you with information on the best usage of these batteries in a solar, wind or hydro application. The battery charge can be maintained by several different options that can all work together.1 Solar Panels set up to deliver 12-24-48 volts depending on your inverter (12 volt panels in series, 24 volt panels in series or any multiple that delivers sufficient voltage to charge batteries) along with a charge controller designed to work with sealed AGM Gel batteries (Trace, Morningstar and tons more)2 Hydro power, one of the best systems since the power output is continous charging the battery 24/7. Again this requires 12-24-48 volt depending on your system voltage output with a charge controller3 Wind power, If you have a reliable wind source is works great because of high power output with the proper controller4 Telco Generator, a 48 volt DC generator that can be found used, they have automatic startup on low voltage and auto shutdown when charged5 AC Generator or Power Connection, used to let your inverter charge the battery in case you are not generating power from solar or wind for a period of time. These are vented batteries so they must be installed with outside venting and should be in a storage box, they just require a charge controller that is designed to work with lead-acid batteriesSolar Energy Rebates: This system of batteries can be part of a solar energy system the could qualify for both state and federal (as of 1/1/2006) renewable energy rebates. Please get more information here http://www.seia.org/manualdownload.php Battery Testing: All batteries are tested for voltage and load before shipment to assure we are shipping a quality product. Before being placed for sale, batteries are tested with a Midtronics Celltron Ultra Stationary Battery Tester (www.midtronics.com). This unit is a $6000 professional battery tester designed to test 2v-16v industrial batteries sized from 20 AH to 4000 AH. It was designed to test batteries that are still part of an active battery bank (it also tests disconnected batteries, that is the easy test). It measures the conductance of the individual cells (2 volt cells) or the entire battery and compares those measured conductances with a database of batteries that have measurements for. All of the batteries in this set tested from 90% to 100% of new cells, they are in excellent condition. For other batteries that are not in the database, testing of a large group of the same batteries is used to develop a good cell number. If batteries test from 80-100% of the reference number they are considered in excellent condition. If the batteries are no longer online, then the battery is considered good from 70 to 80% of the reference number. For batteries that are 60% or below, the are considered at risk and should be replaced. All of the batteries I sell test excellent unless specifically set forth in the listing. That is the best test method available in the battery industry and midtronics is considered the leading battery tester. How Much Power: Maybe you want a system for the house and another system for the workshop, or its a very large house and you want to assure continous power. The more batteries you have in your system the less the depth of discharge and the longer the battery life. In my own cabin, I had l-16 batteries (these were 5 year warranty life) that are 15 years old and they were still going strong, but I only take them down to 20% DOD, so it has paid me many times over to have installed additional batteries at the start. In November I finally took the L16s offline and added 32 of the C&D 120 ah AGM technology used batteries to my own cabin along with a new morningstar 30 amp controller with built in meter. Batteries are shipped 6 to 9 to a pallet so a second set only adds a percentage of the cost of shipping the first 6. Trucking companies generally charge 50-80% of the base battery system shipping cost for an additional set. 9 batteries is the max weight that can be shipped on a single pallet so an two additional sets will require shipping one additonal pallet as part of a single shipment, still providing you an appreciable savings in shipping costs.Payment: I prefer payment by bank checks, wire transfers, and money orders. With Paypal payment I will only ship to address specified in your paypal payment notice, make sure you have your shipping address listed properly in the ship to section. If I don't receive payment in a timely manner, I will file a dispute with ebay for your transaction. International buyers may use paypal for purchases from most countries, but I prefer payment by US$ wire transfer, again paypal will only be shipped to paypal payment notice address. If not shipping to paypal confirmed address, then additional identification may be required prior to shipment.Shipping: NOTE TO BUYERS, I ONLY CHARGE $10 MORE THAN MY ACTUAL SHIPPING COST (THE COST OF A PALLET) SO PLEASE DON'T GIVE ME A POOR SHIPPING COST RATING WHEN I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER FUEL COST ADJUSTMENTS: I can ship these batteries to US, Canada, and Mexico. These batteries are vented lead-acid so they can be easily shipped via truck. These sets that you purchase are palletized in groups of 6 or 9. This makes it easy for them to be sent by truck to your location, that is why I list freight as the shipping method. The quote you get on the listing page is more that I will actually charge since I ship large volumes of batteries thru freightquote.com. If you are serious email me with your zipcode and if you want delivery to your house with a truck with liftgate. If you can have it delivered to a business with a loading dock or you hand unload it at your house from the back of the truck, it will generally save you $100-200 in delivery costs. Note if you have it delivered to a business you will have to pay by money order or bank check since it is unlikely that is your paypal confirmed address. Local pickup in denver is free. International buyers (other than Canada or Mexico) need to make their own shipping arrangement through their local shipping broker. I have shipped this type of battery as far as Tasmania, but again I didn't arrange for shipping.Note to Buyers: If you have more than one negative feedback and a low positive feedback number (<90%) don't bid without my approval, or I reserve the right to cancel your bid.Bid Sniping: For those new to bidding an FYI. Many ebayers use automated bidding services that submit their bid in the last few seconds of the auction. You can't manually bid higher in that short amount of time, so bid what you think the item is worth on your first bid. The way Ebay bidding works is that you should bid the highest price you are willing to pay for the item. The actual amount you will pay is only the amount that is required to exceed the previous high bidders maximum bid, not the maximum amount you are willing to pay.THANK YOU FOR BIDDINGkgestring@hotmail.com for questions
