Description
ULTRA CUSTOM 400gallon (approximate) AQUARIUM 1.25" thick acrylic. Original cost tank only $12,000 (Google 1.25" acrylic sheets 4'x8' $1,500ea. x 3.5 plus1/2" acrylic for lids & overflow plus 1/2 cylinder cost for ends). This tank is built like a TANK (approximately 900lbs empty). Was used as a fish only tank (up until a couple of weeks ago no leaks). Very clear, very minor if any scratches or scuffs. Pictures don't do justice of clarity of tank (needs a little cleaning, but I pulled my back out while inside removing gravel & bulkhead fittings). Pictures of all imperfections are posted. Previous owner had wooden battens glued to barely visible seams. They are all only surface damage nothing structural. Investigated possible repair options with local acrylic company. 1) drill 1/64" shallow holes in imperfections and inject with acrylic solvent WELD ON #4 try without drilling first. 2) brace from behind and slowly heat with paint heat gun. 3) remove surface imperfections and fill in with acrylic resin. I'm told all 3 methods will probably need additional buffing and will probably be slightly visible if you're looking for them. All three methods require tank on its side and it's much to heavy for me. Personally I think the wooden battens/molding are easiest and would look great if done correctly or if all else fails. Just took another look at pictures. Small white spots are gravel, sand & dirty water, not scratches or pits. Again very clear surface with exception of surface blemishes on seams. Overflow and lids(2) are 1/2" acrylic. Overflow has 2 x 3/4" built in returns & 1 x 1" drain. Bottom of tank is also drilled for 2 x3/4" & 1 x1" for 2 drains & 4 returns total. If thinking of a coral tank I would increase size of drains for greater flow. This tank was custom built in place. Did manage to salvage custom wood bullnose for around base & bottom of canopy (appears to be clear birch? easily stained) Took 6 guys most of a day to get this out in great shape & into my warehouse. Auction is for tank only. Other equipment suitable for this tank will be listed in my other auctions. 400gallon wet dry sump from this setup 4 custom built inline venturi skimmers 150-200gal/ea.quality precision, machined fabrication also from this unit. EXTRA LARGE Denitrifier appears to be a custom built by NATUREEF larger than their largest production model (missing dosing pump) DOLPHIN PUMP circulation Little Giant 3 for skimmers Suitable calcium reactor also available And finally if you're as crazy about this hobby as I am? and you want to grow corals & clams in this deep tank. I have THE ULTIMATE LIGHT SET-UP from another tank 2'x6' (You'll have to play with canopy) 8 X 160watt VHO's and 8 X 400watt MH for a total of 4480watts enough light for a couple of city blocks and equal to a very large electric bill Local pickup prefered, but will ship on your dime. Buyer agrees to pay and arrange all shipping charges. Shipping from warehouse (commercial?) no dock, no lift. Area code 33334. Will build custom pallet 40 x 108 bubble wrap and straps for $200. Pallet, wrap, straps plus custom wooden crating $350. Crating will be safest. May seem high but probably won't cover materials & help. 5 more guys just to lower it on pallet. Approximate shipping weight of 1000lbs 40x108x56 Local inquiries Email me for arranging viewing. Have a truck? Check out shipping to your nearest freight terminal. Should save you a couple of hundred$$ Really amazing 1024 visits. 35 people watching. No one has 1 question. No one in S. FLA. wants to take a look. I know it's a great listing, but? This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'm sick over the fact that I'm even selling it. If you were an acrylic expert. Materials alone would cost you close to $5000 Maybe I'm destined to keep it. Which is just fine. Just hate the fact it will be sitting in a warehouse until I break down another tank or buy a bigger house. Great showcase for someone. THANKS for LOOKING, Michael
