It is built and sold by breeders of AKC rough and smooth Glendale Farm Collies. You can see different sizes (from 2 x 2, 2 x 3, 3 x 3, 4 x 4, 4 x 6 and 6 x 6), as well as trim colors available on the breeder's website. When you win the auction, adjustments can be made in rail height and door step-over for your breed and size dog. Other sizes or variations can be put on eBay for you as a buy-it-now. We will custom-make any size you need, just let us know what you are looking for. The walls and door of the box are made of white melamine boards finished on all sides and edges like that used to make children's furniture. It is the easiest box to clean, because it does not harbor bacteria, and the rails lift out for easy wall and rail cleaning (no tools needed). No germs and smelly waste will ever be stuck behind the rails or in the holes in the walls left by screw-in type rails. The door is hinged and can be left open or latched shut when the puppies get big enough to climb over the opening or to keep other household pets out. The wood rails quick release under pressure for puppy safety, and can be instantly removed to rescue a wayward pup. Rail edges are routed to remove sharp edges, then sanded, primed with premium non-toxic primer, sanded again, first-coated with premium semi-gloss non-toxic enamel, sanded a third time, and finished with a final coat of semi-gloss paint. The frame is done the same way, with each piece being finished individually before assembly. The door panel and rails are pre-assembled. Tee nuts are built into the uprights. Only a screwdriver is needed for assembly--four bolts at each corner. Remove the bolts, and the box stores flat in four panels (or leave it up, it makes a great bed!). The floor has been left open for two important reasons. The entire den can be picked up and moved, a side or corner lifted one at a time, to tuck the top layer of bedding under the sides of the box. The weight of the walls on the bedding makes it impossible for new babies to burrow under the edges of the covers and suffocate or be stepped on by the mother (or a person) who does not see the baby under the bedding. Also, when the padding won't stay put, a permanent floor creates nasty corners to try and clean. A heavy-duty plastic shower curtain liner makes the best bottom, because it is waterproof and can be machine washed along with the other bedding, while a fresh floor and bedding are put down, quickly returning mom and pups to their clean and secure spot. The bucket and fleece used on the floor in the picture are not included so you can use a fleece, blanket, comforter or sheet that matches your decor. Change the blanket...change the look!
