Thank you!On Jan-04-09 at 19:23:07 PST, seller added the following information: The following review was written by a recent customer that has experience with both the Eco fan and the Aspen fan that you see in this listing. He was very pleased with the results of the Aspen Fan, so we asked him to compare the two. Regarding the Calframo Ecofan and Aspen Systems.   The setting is important; a quiet mountain valley where winter is a reality for five months each year. Quiet, bordering on pure silence is one of the luxuries that offsets the days or weeks when snowshoes replace any form of vehicle. This means the electric fan system installed on the wood stove is generally unacceptable. A wood stove is the sole source of heat in the 2500 square foot house, which is horseshoe shaped; with the stove in the center.   I used the Calframo Ecofan air plus, (the large one with three blades) for five years. It performed well, running, albeit slowly, when the stove surface was 200 degrees or lower. When the stove was hot, it spun rapidly, putting out enough air that one could feel a slight breeze very close to the blades. It moved some air in the room and helped to level out the cool and hot spots to some limited degree.   Enter the Aspen. This is a large unit, with a three blade fan similar to those found on household fans. It works on the same or similar thermo-electric principle as the Ecofan, using a temperature differential to generate electricity. It also "runs" when the stove surface temperature is very low, and runs faster as the surface temperature increases. However that is about where the similarity ends. I suppose we could use the comparison of a compact sedan and a big-rig truck. The Aspen seems to be a military contract overrun and like most things made for our government is overbuilt to the extreme. It would be interesting to know how much these cost us the first time when we purchased them with our tax dollars. It has a big motor and a big fan that move a lot of air, unscientifically several times as much as the Ecofan.   Beyond the volume of air moved, the pattern is much different. The Ecofan "blows" horizontally, across or away from the stove itself, in one direction into the room. The Aspen works much like a ceiling fan, pulling air downward onto the stove surface and then outward in the total 360 degree direction. Air is circulated in every direction; down from the ceiling toward the floor, and then outward.   Overall hot and cold places in the rooms are virtually eliminated and the floor/ceiling temperatures are much more even. In summary I suppose that three or four Ecofans, pointed in different directions might approach the efficiency of the Aspen.
